Feet are physical manifestations of the world we have traveled and the sights we have seen. They are representative of our ancestry, and revealing of our pastimes. Feet, in all their gnarled beauty, are one of our most uniquely beautiful features.
In the foot department, my older sister, Jenni, has made the best of the genetic card that she was dealt. She not only has constant issues with arches and nerve pain, but is also blessed with a matching pair of large, protruding bunions. These bulbous offenders cause her big toes to swing inward – each one gripping to its middle toe like a life preserver. Needless to say, shoes are a quarrelsome partner for her feet.
Jenni is a costume designer in the film industry. Shoes and clothing are her business and so she is always up-to-date on the best “finds” around. When Jenni found Fit flop, or what I refer to as a “loving, snuggly, hug for your feet,” she committed to the brand. Any season, at work or at play, look down, and you know what you will see.
From a chiropractic perspective, these shoes have all the credentials. They were designed, and launched by Marcia Kilgore in 2007, who later won the Harper’s Bazaar Innovator of the year award in 2009. Marcia saw a deficit in women’s sandals, so she filled that void. The result…six million in sales in her first three years.
She designed a “rocker bottom”, with a foam core, that is firm but forgiving. The arch support is divine. She also realized that there was an intense demand for style. Frequently, she releases new, fabulous options in the Fitflop line. The company even carries boot and sneaker styles!
I am not ashamed to say I have seven pairs of Fitflops. My oldest pair is five years old but they still look like new. I have gifted Fitflop sandals to my mother-in-law, and introduced them to my five closest girlfriends from college. Professionally I have referred dozens of patients to the Fitflop brand.
I would walk all over Europe in these precious feet-huggers if provided the opportunity!
As far as the “Product Pimp” factor goes. (1– I wouldn’t use this product as a doorstop, 10-I would stand on a street corner and yell about them) These are a solid ten!
You can purchase the Fit Flop brand below.

Hi Heather! I have plantar fascitous and these look like exactly what I need! Do you know if the sizes are accurate? Thanks so much for this info (along with all the other great stuff you post)!
Yes the sizes are pretty true! Thanks for the comment Sandra, always good to know someone out there is reading! 😉
FYI- 1/2 a size down is usually the case.
it is much better than flipflop (i don’t understand the people who hate flipflop)
They are better than regular FLIp-FLOPS – Much better arch support.
