Have you perused online, in a concerted effort to self-educate, only to find deeply conflicting data from one site to another? I know – Me too. It seems, concerning nutrition, this is more often the case than not. It got me thinking. There are foods that several of my clients eat regularly thinking they are doing good to their body, when in fact, they may be doing harm.
So I sat down and came up with the seven foods that are often regarded as healthy and nutritious. In some cases they are (but in very small amounts) in other cases they are not.
Answers to this and several other “but I thought that was healthy” conundrums are in a recent article I wrote for FIX.com. If you want the quick view of some of the excerpts from the article, feel free to take a look at the infographic I placed below. Better yet, so you know which foods are “danger danger,” read the whole article.

Spoiler Alert: Here are the foods. CEREALS, SPORTS DRINKS, DRIED FRUIT, GLUTEN FREE PRODUCTS, PROTEIN BARS, TRAIL MIX, AND MUFFINS. But to know why they are bad and which ones are okay in small amounts you have to read the whole article. 🙂

This week I want you to get conscious about your food. If you break food down to its components of carbohydrates, proteins, and fats consider what the best way you could feed yourself with the least amount of additional additives, preservatives, toxins or processing. Remember, whole food does not have ingredients. An apple doesn’t have “ingredients”. No, or very few “ingredients” in your food is what you want to work toward.

Wow… I didn’t think of dried fruit and trail mix having all the extra stuff. Thanks for sharing all the useful info.
Well this is depressing. I’m eating a banana that I hate to be healthy. Goodbye banana.

Oh no, the bananas have such a high value? They are my favourite morning smoothie ingredient! … Hmm.. so I should just cut down on my general chocolate consumption and I can still have my banana in the smoothie 🙂

Ha ha. Try a half instead of a whole one. 🙂 But yes if it is bananas or Chocolate, I’m with you on that decision.

So true! Those sneaky beasts that “seem” healthy….ugh. Thanks for the GI chart! It’s all about keeping that sugar down.
